The Blickstein D'var Torah Competition

Are you interested in Torah and textual tradition? If so, we encourage you to enter the Blickstein D'var Torah Competition! This contest encourages any 9th-11th grader to submit an original D’var Torah based on the parashah of Tetzaveh. This is the Torah portion for the week of NFTY Convention 2019, which is where the winner will be showcased.

This contest is a great way to learn about Judaism and speak your mind on what this text says to you. Writing a D’var Torah is not as hard as you might think – it’s about reading the text, figuring out what you identify with the most, telling others why this matters, and learning how to write all of this out in a way that is meaningful. The winner’s work will be spotlighted at the Biennial and the prize enables much of your future travel at coming NFTY events.

Submissions are due on December 15.

The winners will be announced in January.

  • The 1st Place Winner will receive $3,000
  • The 2nd Place Winner will receive $1500
  • The 3rd Place Winner will receive $500

This prize money can be applied towards any NFTY or URJ Youth travel program. The winners will be able to use the funds for the remainder of their high school years, and the funds may be used for more than one program until the winner reaches their total award amount.
